Toddlers and weight training

I’ve had a bit of a wobbly time lately when it comes to my eating and training. Las Vegas, Conference, Weddings, family and other commitments has meant I haven’t concentrated on my training or nutrition as much as I should. However, I’m bridesmaid for my good friends wedding in May, so I’ve got roughly four weeks to get into prime physical condition!

We did testing last week. Here are the results   I’ve also lost cms off my body and reduced body fat.

  • Press ups. Aim 40. Achieved 31. Not bad considering I couldn’t even do 1 press up April 2014
  • Squat. Aim 110. Achieved 100kg.
  • Bench. Aim 50. Achieved 50kg!
  • Deadlift. Aim 115. Achieved 115kg!

Was super happy with my deadlift and bench. Not so happy with squat – it’s not my favourite at the mo… 😦

*I showed this photo to my husband and he said, “oh wow, you look great, but look at what the guy next to you is lifting”. Haha a bit of a laugh!

Sumo squats have been on the menu a bit lately. They are a lot of fun. Here’s a vid. 5x85kg

While I’m here. Here’s a little testimonial I wrote for my trainer Rose Watson. Check her out on Instagram @rosewatson1 for some impressive lifting vids and inspiration. It sums up my fitness journey over the last twelve months.

“I started training with Rose April 2014 twice a week, 9 months after having my first child. Rose kept saying to me…”trust the process”, and I’m so glad I did and continued on! Yes, we lift some “heavy” weights, but, it’s incredibly empowering achieving goals. My main goal was to get back in shape post-baby, but to do that we set some lifting goals (rather than diet, or busting out cardio etc). It’s been great to focus on increasing strength rather than body, as my body has easily transformed as strength increased. Yes! The process works, Rose knows her stuff…Oh, and we have a laugh while doing it! Thanks Rose!”

So, next short term goal is to get lean for the upcoming wedding. I plan to do this by cleaning up my eating, short frequent walks, maintain weight training, add saunas (4x per week) and cut alcohol. Boo! 🍷

I’d love to hear what other people are doing with their training or any tips on how to lean out/drop body fat?
